Mrs. Jerline McDaniel

Jerline McDaniel, 70, affectionately known as “Big Momma” departed this life on Monday, January 9, 2012, at the West Valley Hospital Good Year Arizona.  She was born April 16, 1941, in Morrilton, Arkansas to the union of Will Davis and Lula Everett Davis.  She was the third child of the three born to this union.  Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers and one granddaughter.

 

Jerline accepted Christ at an early age in the 50's.  She was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ 1983, under the pastorate of the late Elder Jimmy L. Roustic.  In 1989, she later joined The Baptist Church of The Living God "formerly name" Mt. Calvary under the leadership of Rev. Mack Freeman.  She was a faithfully member until she relocated to Buckeye, Arizona with husband in August 2010.  Jerline miss her home church that she loved so much that she would call on Sunday mornings and the members would leave the phone off the hook so she could listen to the services.

 

On February 12, 1960, Jerline was united in marriage to Ozy T. McDaniel to their union five children were born. She was a wonderful, loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother.  She loved listening to old gospel music, family birthday celebrations and barbeque's.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of fifty one years, Ozy T. McDaniel Sr.; four sons, Ozy McDaniel Jr. of Buckeye, Arizona, Willie McDaniel, Terrence (Diane) McDaniel and Jeffrey McDaniel of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Cynthia (Pete) Coleman of Kansas City, MO; brother, Willie Davis, Omaha, Nebraska; sister, Dorothy M. Pickens, Kansas City, KS; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, special friends and her church family.

 

She will be forever missed by those of us who knew and loved her!!


Services for Mrs. McDaniel will be held 12:00 Noon Friday (today), January 20, 2012, at Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ Suffragan Bishop Daniel Chavis, Jr. Pastor with Rev. Mack Freeman, pastor of The Baptist Church of the Living God officiating.  Burial will be in Longview Cemetery.  Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until service time Friday at the church.

Ms. Sharon D. Greene

Sharon Denise Greene AKA "Squeaky" was born May 3, 1957, to the union of Ollie Virgil Blackwell, Jr. and Annabell Greene. She was the youngest of five children.

Sharon attended Phyllis Wheatly Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School, class of 1975. She also attended Penn Valley Community College.

In June 1977, Sharon enlisted in the U. S. Army and served her country for three years. Upon being honorably discharged, Sharon served in the Reserves. She was employed with the Internal Revenue Services for over twenty five years as a Customer Service Representative (GSA8). While at the IRS she was a Union Steward for NTEU. She was also a member of the Heartland CFC Eagle Club, Social Awareness Team and Federal Sponsored Fitness Program, which she lovingly called the "Fat Class". Sharon contributed to many different federal charitable programs. At the IRS she was known as a computer guru and everybody's pal.

Sharon departed this life on Monday, January 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Ollie Jr., mother, Annabell and sister, Mary Frances Greene.

She leaves to cherish her memory: three brothers, Ollie (Sherie) Greene, Michael "Mickey" Greene both of Kansas City, Missouri and Walter (Debra) Greene of Des Monies, Iowa; nephew, Randolph Andrew Greene of Kansas City, Missouri; two special friends, Jan Grafton and Martha King and a host of relatives and special friends.

Services for Ms. Greene were held Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel North with Rev. Pleze Smith officiating. Burial in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Infant DelShawn Eugene Pickens passed away on Monday, January 9, 2012, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by J. P. and Wink. He is survived by his mother, Clarissa Pickens; brother, Delron “T.L.” Pickens; grandmother, Judy Pickens; aunt, Diamond Burris; godmother, Takea Chase and a host of other relatives.

Graveside services for Infant Pickens will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday (today), January 27, 2012, at XII Gates Memorial Gardens.

                                                      Mr. Jack Lowery, Sr.

Jack Lowery was born in Kansas City, Missouri to the union of Eudell and Prentis Lowery on June 3, 1945.  Both parents preceded him in death.

He was self employed and worked very hard to provide for his family. He loved auto mechanics and he could repair anything around the house. He was a good cook and a great father. Jack would give anyone his last. He was a giving and blessed man.

Some of his favorite sayings: “Cakes all dough.” “I’m the boss of the hot sauce”. “You want to walk the water”. “You dig it?”

Jack departed this life on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at John Knox Village Hospice in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Jackie Lowery, James Lowery (Shawanda) and Jackie Lowery Jr., six daughters, Jacquelyn Boyce (Robert), Jacqueline Lowery, Pearlie Lowery-King, Angela Lowery, Brenda Lowery Jr., and Jacqueline (last name unknown); three brothers, Larnell Lowery, James Lowery, and Nathaniel Lowery; four sisters, Alice Harrell, Betty Howard (Bill), Joann Kinney, and Pearly Parks (Tyson, Jr.); 25 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Mr. Lowery will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 21, 2012, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel North with Presiding Elder Tyson J. Parks officiating.

Ms. Ruby I. Berry

Ruby Irene Littlejohn was born on February 15, 1926, to the proud parents of Ollie and Clarence Littlejohn in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by both parents, and the following siblings: Bernice Littlejohn, Veola Simmons, Zenobia Asberry, Magnolia Adkins, Gracie Littlejohn, Andrew Littlejohn, and Otis Littlejohn.

Ms. Littlejohn was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Haskell, Oklahoma. In 1946, she moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she met and married Willie Berry.

She was a devoted longtime member of Palestine Missionary Baptist Church, and participated in Sunday school as well as a member in the Senior Choir.

Ms. Berry became a certified teacher's aide for the Kansas City, Missouri School District. After serving as an aide and substitute teacher for several years, she traded the classroom for work as a security guard.

Although, she never had biological children, she has helped to raise many throughout the Kansas City area as well as countless nieces and nephews.

At the age of eight-five, she was known to many as Aunt Ruby "Toobie", the monarch of the Littlejohn family.

To know Aunt Ruby, was to have a friend, who was honest and spoke her mind. You may not have always agreed with her, but after all was said and done, she would tell you in a heartbeat, "I got cha back".

Ms. Ruby I. Berry departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at the home.

She is survived by her youngest sibling, Obia Wallace of Compton, California.

The stories that Aunt Ruby shared about her life, will live with us forever and because of this, she will always be in our hearts and never forgotten.

Services for Ms. Berry were held Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Palestine Missionary Baptsit Church of Jesus Christ with Pastor Leonard P. Butler, Jr. officiating. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Allen Payne

Allen Payne illuminated the earth with his arrival to his loving parents, Charles and Gladys Payne, on July 17, 1948, in St. Louis, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys Payne; sisters, Teresa, Delores and Phyllis; and brothers, Frank and John.

Allen was educated in the St. Louis, MO school system, graduating from Sumner High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at Imperial Beach, California before being deplored to Vietnam where he completed three tours with the Helicopter Combat Support Squadron 1. Allen was employed with General Motors for over 20 years and retired from General Motors.

Allen Payne was an extraordinary man, kind, generous and one “who never met a stranger.” He possessed the gift of being at ease with all persons that he encountered.

Allen leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife, Debra Payne; sons, Eric, Deric, Kevin, Dominic (Candi) and Jordan; daughters, Dawn, DeAudra and Ciarra; grandchildren, Destiny, Kevin (KK), Dylan, Chayce, Karsyn, Demi, Kelly and Bailey; his sister, Geraldine; brothers, Charles, Lionel and Steven; special cousins, Betty and Minnie; a host of favorite nieces, nephews and cousins; and friends who expressed their sympathy of his departure from this side of the earth, and celebrate his life with Christ.

Allen’s family express sincere gratitude and “special thanks” to the Kansas University Cancer Center, the doctors and nurses; and the entire staff of St. Luke’s Hospital for the great care he received.

Services for Mr. Payne were held Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church with Pastor Michael Murray officiating. Burial in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.

Mr. Zino Williams

Zino Williams was born June 26, 1933, to the union of Hezekiah Williams and Eliza Williams in Creston, Louisiana.

Zino was educated at Kelly Vocational School in Creston, Louisiana. He was baptized at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Creston, Louisiana at an early age.

He later moved to Kansas City, Missouri in 1950. He worked for J. A Tobin Construction for 30 years before retiring. After retirement he was self-employed during odd jobs.

Zino united with Prince of Peace Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, then later with Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church where he remained for more than 30 years. He loved to attend church on the regular basis and loved the Lord and his family.

Zino was the pillar of our family you can depend on him in time of need. He was always there to give support to the family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hezekiah and Eliza Williams, son, Dobie Williams, brothers, K C Williams, Ajean Williams and sister Marie Hargrove.

Mr. Zino Williams departed this earthly life on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: three sons, Zino Jr., Bruce and Patrick; brothers, Hezekiah Jr., Darrell Williams; sisters, Stella Turner, Mary Smith (William) and Caroline Williams; a special aunt, Ida Simpkins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
