Mr. Ronzell D. Johnson, Jr.

Ronzell Dwayne Johnson, Jr. was born August 8, 1997, to the union of Ronzell Dwayne Johnson, Sr. and Bishiba T. Boston in Kansas City, Missouri. He was preceded in the call to glory by: an uncle, Adolph Herron; one aunt, Lakimoco Boston; his coach, Lonell Fisher and best friend, Rommell Fisher.

He attended Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. His many accomplishments included a sincere devotion to the many sport activities he enjoyed in life; including baseball, football and basketball, making this young man a stellar athlete in his own right.

Being a frequent figure at the Emmanuel Camp Community Center, Ronzell brought a fresh and encouraging atmosphere to each of his peers, always offering them one of his soul penetrating smiles.

Ronzell's devotion to family was paramount and a primary source of his happiness. Taunting his sisters brought on the joyous laughter that could be heard on the many occasions they shared together. He could always find strength in the source of his mother and in turn gave the strength that held fast his family forum.

Ronzell Dwayne Johnson, Jr. was called home to glory on Saturday, May 14, 2011. Although we will miss him dearly we shall forever celebrate his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his parents, Father, Ronzell Dwayne Johnson, Sr.; mother, Bishiba T. Boston both of Kansas City, Missouri; brother, Montrell R. Walker; sisters, Lakendra M. Boston, Lakeitha L. Boston, Ronetta L. Johnson, Ronnie L. Johnson and Ronnell L. Johnson all of Kansas City, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Margie Boston and Louis Allen both of Minden, Louisiana; paternal grandmother, Verbina Bank of Arkansas; two loving nieces, Kentasia S. Boston-Stubbs and Kenshawn M. Boston of Kansas City, Missouri and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends who loved him dearly.

Services for Ronzell were held Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Canaan Worship Center, Rev. Tony D. Cobbins, pastor with Minister Douglass Shinault, Associate Minister officiating. Burial in XII Gates Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Rufus Smith

Rufus M. Smith was born November 4, 1925, to Mr. Locy Smith and Mary Garret Smith in Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by both parents, two sisters, a stepson one brother and his stepmother.

He received his education from the Kansas City, Kansas School District. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Rufus was employed at Montgomery Wards for thirty three and a half years before retiring.

He married Lorine Blackburn in 1957, and was a devoted husband and father.

Mr. Smith joined Mariah Walker AME Church under the pastorate of Rev. Saundra McFadden-Weaver in 1990 and served faithfully until his health failed.

Mr. Rufus M. Smith departed this earthly on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Delmar Gardens in Lenexa, Kansas.

He leaves to cherish his memory hi wife of fifty three years, Lorine Smith of the home; one sister, Rosa Jones of Antioch, California; four sisters-in-law, Cleo McCallop, Earnestine Smith, Pauline Simmons and Ethel Wilcox and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services for Mr. Smith will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at Mariah Walker AME Church with pastor Donald Morrison officiating. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Clay T. McClain

Clay T. McClain was born May 1, 1921, in Birmingham, Alabama.

He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Jesus Christ. Mr. McClain passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Services for Mr. McClain will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at Friendship Baptist Church with Pastor James A. Terrance, Jr. officiating. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until service time Wednesday at the church.

Ms. Jeannette Marie Hill-Carroll

Jeannette Marie Hill-Carroll was born June 20, 1977, to the union of Norma Jean Conrad and Rev. Russell Thomas Hill, Jr.  Jeannette was preceded in death by a daughter, Gena M. Hill.

Educated in the Kansas City, Missouri School District, after graduating high school, Jeannette completed post high school training through the Flint Hill Job Corp Center in Manhattan, Kansas.  In this training program she achieved certifications in both business and technical areas of study.  Recently, Jeannette also completed training through Concorde Career Institute in Medical Coding and Billing.

A lifelong resident of the Metropolitan Kansas City Area, Jeannette's professional expertise was in customer service.  Her work resume included seasonal employment with the IRS and H & R Block as well as Mail Order Prescription Solutions.

Jeannette accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 12 as a member of St. Anthony Spiritual Temple in Kansas City, Missouri.

On November 20, 1999, Jeannette married Kevin Wayne Carroll, Sr.  Two children were born to this union, Kevin Wayne, Jr. and Alexis Amari.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Adarius D. Davis, Jonathan E. Phillips, Kevin, Jr. and Alexis Carroll; her mother, Norma J. Conrad; sister, Lydia A. Ganaway; brother, Russell T. Hill, III and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Ms. Carroll were held Saturday, May 14, 2011, at E. S. Eley & Sons Funeral Chapel North with Pastor Mark Gazaway of Belton Family Worship Center officiating.  Burial in XII Gates Memorial Gardens.
